The Joys of Springtime!

I don't know about you but the warm air and green grass of spring is also bringing allergy symptoms into my life-grr! I never used to have "allergies" but as I have matured (I never use the "O" word) I have noticed the runny nose/sneezing/coughing comes every year like clockwork. Our immune system tends to slow down or not work quite as well as we-ahem-mature-so we get to experience this lovely time of year with tissues in our pockets at all times.

Before I found essential oils I would try antihistamine medications or just suffer through it. So my options were being too sleepy to function or constantly wiping my nose #alwaysusetissuesnotsleeves.

Since my decision to #gonatural I have found three oils that help me with the symptoms-make that four oils: Lemon, lavender, peppermint and a blend called Breathe!

The first three used in equal parts can be diffused, applied topically or if you are comfortable with it (and only using high quality therapeutic grade oils) taken internally. I found that diffusing two drops of lemon, lavender and peppermint worked great for alleviating my allergy symptoms when I was at home but unfortunately, I can't stay home all the time, so what's a girl to do? (I'm glad you asked ;)) If you are the non-lazy person you can purchase veggie capsules and add a drop of each oil to a capsule and take them. Personally, I lean more toward the lazy side so I make sure I have a bottle of TriEase around; DoTerra does the work for me and I take one capsule in the morning and it keeps the symptoms at bay all day. If they are particularly bad I take another in the evening but that's pretty rare for me.

The other oil called Breathe is a lifesaver in more ways than one! It is great for opening up stuffed nasal passages to help you----wait for it----BREATHE!!! If you tend to get stuffed up from allergies or any other upper respiratory issue, try applying a little to your chest or under your nose or simply sniff the bottle. If you have sensitive skin then dilute it with a little fractionated coconut oil or any other carrier oil first. Or you can also get it pre-diluted from DoTerra in a product called BreatheTouch. If you would like to check out the Breathe products just click here.

I like to call Breathe a "marriage saver" because someone I will not mention by name tends to snore---often and loudly. Diffusing 5-6 drops at night keeps the snoring to a minimum and lets everyone aka me get more sleep.

So now that I have found solutions to my allergies I am noticing how many other people online or on television mention allergies and how awful they are! My sister attended a taping of the #LivewithKellyandRyan show today and Kelly is suffering through some sort of upper respiratory illness and she mentioned that maybe it's allergies. A local meteorologist is going crazy with allergies right now. When I see those people I just want to reach out to them and say: "Hey! I have something that could help! And you won't be sleeping in your soup or wiping your nose on your sleeve!"

So this is my way of reaching out to as many people as possible--I would love to help you alleviate the sniffling and sneezing and stuffiness of springtime!

So now I bet you are asking yourself: "How do I get these oils for my allergies?" Again, I'm glad you asked ;)

If you want to learn more you can go to my website here. If you would like a link to an easy way to purchase your oils I can provide that to you as well.
